Ingredients of Lachha Paratha

  • 1 3/4 cup whole wheat flour

  • salt as required

How to make Lachha Paratha

  • Step 1 Prepare the dough for lachha paratha

To prepare the dough for lachha paratha, take whole wheat flour, 1 1/2 tbsp ghee, and salt in a bowl. Mix it well. Then using some water, knead the mixture into a dough.

  • Step 2 Roll the dough

First, divide the dough into 6 equal parts. Then roll the dough to make a round circle (if needed use wheat flour for rolling).

  • Step 3 Make pleats of the rolled dough

The most important step of making a lachha paratha is to make perfect pleats. Add a tsp of ghee to the rolled dough and sprinkle some flour on it. Then start making pleats by folding small parts of the dough. You now have just one line of dough with several pleats beneath it.

  • Step 4 Roll the pleats again

You now need to roll the pleats like a swiss roll. Then, seal the end by pressing it to the downwards of the dough. Put the swiss roll dough in wheat flour and start making the paratha from the sealed side (the opposite side of the swiss roll which was facing upwards earlier).

  • Step 5 Cook the lachha paratha

After rolling the paratha, place it on a pan and cook it from one side. Add some ghee and then flip it. Press the paratha gently so that it gets cooked well.

  • Step 6 Ready to serve

Once it gets cooked from both sides, transfer it to a plate and then press it lightly from both sides using your hands. This will make the layers of lachha paratha more visible. Repeat the same steps for the rest five doughs. Finally, your lachha paratha is ready to serve. You can have this delicious lachha paratha with your favourite vegetable. Enjoy.
