The thick green curry of Hariyali chicken is prepared with a lot of green leafy vegetables like spinach leaves, coriander leaves, and mint leaves. The green paste is then mixed with cream and that just adds more flavor to the recipe. How to make Hariyali Chicken

  • Step 1 Marinate the chicken

    To begin with, wash the chicken pieces and drain the excess water. In a bowl, add coriander powder, lemon juice, red chili powder, yogurt, cumin powder, salt, and chicken pieces. Mix it well and keep it aside for at least 30 minutes.

  • Step 2 Prepare the masala

    In a blender, add spinach leaves, mint leaves, coriander leaves, cashew nuts, ginger, garlic, green chilies, garam masala, 2 tbsp of water, and turmeric. Blend everything to form a fine paste. Add more water, if required.

  • Step 3 Make the curry

    Heat ghee in a pan and then add onions. Saute until the onions turn golden brown. Now, add the green masala and cook it for about 3 minutes. Add the marinated chicken pieces and stir to mix everything well. Cover the pan and let it cook for about 15-20 mins. Check if the gravy has thickened well.

  • Step 4 Pour in fresh cream

    Now, pour fresh cream into the mixture. Mix everything well and cook on low flame for 5 mins. Once done, switch off the gas flame.

  • Step 5 Your Hariyali Chicken is ready

    Your Hariyali Chicken is ready. Serve it with hot chapatis. Enjoy the meal.

Tips
  1. You can make it more spicy by adding green chilies.
  2. Adjust the thickness of the gravy as per your preference.
  3. Make sure you coat the green masala well on the chicken.
