How to make Paneer Bhuni Chana Dal
Step 1
To prepare this delicious recipe, start by washing the tomatoes, onions, coriander leaves and bay leaves running water. Using a clean chopping board, chop them up separately. Then, chop the paneer into cubes and keep aside. Next, take a pan and heat oil in it. Add the chana dal to it and roast them till they turn golden brown in colour. Transfer them to a grinder and grind it into a powder.
Step 2
Now, take a pressure cooker over medium flame and heat oil in it. When the oil is hot enough, add some paneer in it and fry until it turns brown in colour. Repeat with the remaining paneer and then transfer them all to a bowl and keep aside.
Step 3
Next, turn the flame to high and heat more oil in the cooker. Then, add dry red chilies, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and bay leaves and saute them for a few minutes. When they start emitting an aroma, add the onions and saute till they turn golden brown in colour.
Step 4
Now, add the ground chana dal to the mixture and season it with salt. Fry for 2-3 minutes and then, add a little water to it along with peas and mix. Next, cover the pressure cooker with its lid and let the mixture cook for 5-6 minutes. When it’s done, let the steam escape before opening the cooker.
Step 5
Finally, turn down the flame to medium and add the fried paneer to the cooker. Mix it together and let it simmer for a few minutes or until you see the desired consistency. When it’s cooked, transfer it to a serving bowl and pair it with warm naan or roti. Enjoy the delicious meal!
