Potato Cheela Recipe
Potato Cheela is a lips-smacking recipe that you can quickly make within minutes when you don’t feel like preparing anything lavish. Potato is one such vegetable that can be used to make ‘n’ several dishes and be it any shape or size, potato delivers taste and flavors in the dish with perfection. We have used a very basic recipe here, however, you can add some grated veggies like carrot, cabbage, etc to make the cheela more nutritious. Aloo Cheela is the perfect comfort food that you can enjoy with tomato ketchup or mint chutney on the side. The best thing about this potato recipe is that it is not fried and is yet so tasty. You can easily make two cheeses with less than 1 tablespoon of oil, which makes the recipe quite healthy. The grated potato used in the recipe gives the cheela its perfect texture which makes it super crispy. Ingredients of Potato Cheela
- 1 large potato
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon corn flour
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 medium onion
- 1 green chilli
- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 tablespoon gram flour (besan)
- salt as required
How to make Potato Cheela
Step 1 Prepare the potato
Wash and peel the potato first. Now grate it well and collect it in a bowl. Add 2 cups of water to it and let the grated potato remain soaked for 15 minutes. This will help in removing the excess starch from it. After 15 mins, squeeze out the excess water and collect the potato in another bowl.
Step 2 Add all the ingredients and prepare a mixture
Now add all the other ingredients like chopped onion, green chili, garlic paste, black pepper powder, salt, coriander powder, cumin powder, besan, and cornflour. Mix well to prepare a mixture.
Step 3 Make cheetahs
Drizzle a few drops of oil on a non-stick pan and spread half of the prepared mixture on it. Spread properly to get a circular and thin cheela. Cook from both sides until golden brown. Make one more cheela with the leftover mixture.
Step 4 Ready to be served
Serve the Potato Cheela with tomato ketchup or green mint chutney.
Tips
- You can even add veggies like capsicum, carrot, cabbage, etc to make the cheela tastier.
- Instead of making one big cheese, you can make small baby pancakes with the mixture as well.
