It is as sumptuous as the name suggests. Generally mutton recipes involve lot of spices and hours of cooking but this easy Karahi Gosht recipe is not taxing. With minimum spices, this gosht recipe cooks in its own flavours and is a perfect preparation for treating on any special occasion. Considered a special preparation for festivals like Eid, this recipe is a must try. Blended with the comfort flavours of ginger, garlic and tomatoes, this mutton recipe will leave you craving for more everytime you cook it. As the name suggests, you can also serve the recipe in a karhai and garnish with fresh coriander leaves and baby tomatoes. You can also add crushed cashews or almonds to make it look lavish.

How to make Karahi Gosht

  • Step 1

    Boil meat with 2 cups of water and ginger and garlic paste on a medium flame. When the water dries up and meat is almost tender then turn off the flame.

  • Step 2

    Heat oil in a wok and put in onions. Fry till golden and then add tomatoes. Fry till the oil separates.

  • Step 3

    Now add 1 tsp salt, 1 and 1/2 tsp red chili powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp coriander powder and 1/2 tsp cumin powder.

  • Step 4

    Add the meat, fry for 20 minutes on high flame till water from tomatoes dries and a little gravy is left. Add little water and cover the lid. Cook on very low flame for 10 minutes till the oil separates. Finally add green chilies and coriander leaves and fry for a minute or so. Serve hot.
